
During the summer, first-time applicants are considered for either the Youth Visitor Experience Team or the Summer Camp Team. Volunteer opportunities on the Field Trip Team are by invitation only and are limited to those who volunteered for a previous session.
Exceptional summer volunteers are invited to join the Youth Event & Exhibit Hall Team or the Youth Visitor Experience Team for the following school year session. Acceptance into the summer session does not guarantee acceptance into the following school year session.

Youth Visitor Experience Team
The primary role of Youth Visitor Experience Volunteers is to serve as junior facilitators, performing scientific demonstrations for visitors and facilitating educational games and activities in exhibit halls.
Youth Visitor Experience Volunteers have three sessions to choose from: Summer A (June 11 – June 29), Summer B (July 2 – July 20), or Summer C (July 23 – August 10). Each session is three weeks, and volunteers are required to work Monday-Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for all three weeks.

Summer Camp Team
The primary role of Summer Camp Volunteers is to serve as junior counselors and junior runners. Junior counselors help monitor campers and facilitate activities in classrooms, and their shifts are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Junior runners help with before-care, lunch, and after-care, and their shifts are from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Requirements:
• 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (junior counselor shift)
• 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. OR 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (junior runner shifts)
Field Trip Team
Volunteer opportunities on the Field Trip Team are by invitation only and are limited to those who volunteered for a previous session. Priority will be given to volunteers who served during the previous school year.
The primary role of Field Trip Volunteers is to serve as junior field trip educators, assisting with group check-in, exhibit hall supervision, and way finding.
